New: proximity voice, Opus audio and the Modern phone

A real phone, in your pocket, in the game.

Press H and pull it out mid-build. Message a friend on another server, call them, talk to whoever's standing next to you, snap a photo of the build, check the map, look up a recipe, put a track on. EnderPhone is a working phone that runs between servers, not just on one.

The apps

Fifteen apps. One keypress.

Everything lives on one home screen, the way a phone should. Pick an app to see what it does.

Messages

DMs and group chats with anyone on your friends list, whichever server they're on. Attach photos and clips, and never miss one: unread counts sit right on the icon.

  • Group chats you can name, add to and leave
  • EnderCloud: the one group every player is in
  • The same chats on the web in EnderChat

Calls

Voice and video calls in the game, no Discord tab needed. Show your face, what you're looking at, or turn the selfie camera round. It all works with your shaderpack on.

  • Opus audio, through the closest voice region
  • Y answer, N hang up, M mute, J camera
  • Works across servers

Friends

Your friends list, requests, and who's online right now. Turn on nearby friends and they show up on your map. Only where you are right now is shared, never a history.

  • Find players by name
  • Profiles with their photos and clips
  • Opt-in location sharing

Social

A feed of what your friends have been building: photos and clips, likes and comments. The same feed is on the web as Enderbook, so you can scroll it from your desktop too.

  • Post straight from Camera or Photos
  • Likes, comments, follows
  • Clips play right in the feed

Camera

Photos and short clips of the build, without the HUD in the way. Frame it, filter it, set a timer and put the phone on a tripod to get yourself in the shot.

  • V photo, G clip, B filter, X shape
  • Selfie camera, self-timer, burst, exposure, zoom
  • Tripod: place the camera in the world with P

Photos

Every shot and clip in one gallery. Edit, filter, set one as your wallpaper, or share it into a chat or onto your feed in two taps.

  • Photo editor with seven filters
  • Clips play back on the phone
  • Share to chats, Social or Enderbook

Map

A proper minimap and a full-screen world map, remembered per server and dimension. It replaces the map mod you'd normally install.

  • Waypoints with beams, groups and a death marker
  • Mob radar with real mob faces, cave mode, chunk grid, slime chunks
  • Light-level overlay, Xaero waypoint import, export or publish your map

Lookup

Every item and recipe in the game, searchable. The same panel sits beside every chest and crafting table, so you never alt-tab to a wiki again.

  • Search by name, @mod, #tag or $id
  • R recipes and U uses on any hovered item
  • Fill the crafting grid from a recipe in one click

Music

Tune into a station and everyone on it hears the same song at the same moment, or play your own music while you build. What's playing shows on the home screen.

  • Live stations, in sync for everyone
  • Your own tracks
  • Now-playing card on the Modern home screen

Browser

A real web browser in the game, with a directory of community sites to start from. Turn the phone sideways and it goes edge to edge. Built into the full EnderPhone.

  • Real Chromium, not a mock-up
  • Sites directory: EnderChat, Enderbook, server lists and more
  • Full-screen in landscape

Alerts

Missed calls, friend requests, mentions and messages from the server, in one list. A badge on the icon tells you when there's something new.

  • Tap one to jump to it
  • Unread badges on the home screen
  • Everything in one place

Games

Something for the long walk back from the End city. Snake for when you're alone, Connect 4 against a friend, turn by turn, even on another server.

  • Connect 4: challenge any friend
  • Snake with a high score
  • Matches wait for your move

Style

Everything about how you look: your cape, cosmetics, wallpaper and the phone's colour. Upload your own cape, even an animated one, and other players see it on your back and on your elytra.

  • Custom capes from a PNG or animated GIF
  • Cosmetics and wallpapers
  • Six phone colour themes

Settings

Theme, phone style, minimap layout, voice and visuals. Visuals colour-grades the world with looks like Cinematic and Vivid: tune one live, then pin it to a dimension.

  • Modern or Classic phone (full EnderPhone)
  • Proximity voice: push-to-talk or open mic
  • Account, password and email

Proximity voice

Hear whoever's standing next to you.

Walk up to someone and you hear them. Walk away and they fade out. Proximity voice works on any server with nothing installed, and gets verified positions when the server runs the EnderPhone addon. The phone detects that on its own.

  • Hold Caps Lock to talk, or switch to open mic
  • Volume follows real distance, 32 blocks by default
  • With the addon, the server sets the range and push-to-talk rules, and nobody can fake their position
Try it: drag yourself around
Positions reported by each player's client
Two players in Enderman skins talk inside a glowing voice ring; a third, further off, is outside it and hears nothing

    Opus audio

Calls and proximity voice use Opus, the codec voice apps use. About 55 bytes every 20 ms instead of 320, and it sounds better doing it.

    Three voice regions

Your phone times each region when you sign in, and calls use the one that's fastest for everyone on them.

    Any server, or verified

Without the addon, each phone reports where its player is. With it, the server signs every position and sets the range and push-to-talk rules for everyone.

One mod, not a shelf of them

The mods you always install, already on the phone.

All client-side, all on any server. It runs alongside Sodium and Iris, and doesn't try to replace them.

    How it works

Works on any server. Better on yours.

EnderPhone is a client mod, and its phone talks to EnderNet, the one service every EnderPhone player shares. That's why it works wherever you play, even on a server that has never heard of it. Server owners can go further with an optional addon.

A player in an Enderman skin teleports between three floating islands: a town, the CobbleGenerations server and a singleplayer cottage
    Mode 1

    The server has nothing installed

Your phone connects straight to EnderNet. The Minecraft server just runs the game as normal and never sees phone traffic.

    • Messages, calls, photos, music and the browser work everywhere, even across servers.
    • Proximity voice works too, using the positions each player's own client reports.
    • Map, radar, recipes and camera run on your own game, so they don't need anything from the server.
    Mode 2

The server runs the EnderPhone addon

The server tells EnderNet who's really online and where, so position-based features rely on the server's word instead of each player's.

    • Everything from Mode 1, unchanged.
    • Positions come from the server itself and are signed, so nobody can fake being next to you.
    • Proximity voice uses the server's positions, range and push-to-talk rules.
    • When you join, the server tells your phone what it offers, so there's nothing to set up.

    For server owners

Proximity voice your players can trust.

EnderPhone covers what a minimap mod, a voice plugin and a screenshot tool would normally take three installs to do, and your players add it once. You don't have to install anything. Add the server addon and proximity voice runs on your positions and your rules.

    Questions

    Good to know.

Does the server I play on need to install anything?

No. The phone is a client mod and talks to EnderNet directly, so it works on any server, proximity voice included. The addon only adds extras that depend on the server confirming where players are.

EnderPhone or EnderPhone Lite: which should I get?

EnderPhone, unless you have a reason not to. It's everything in one jar, with the web browser and the Modern phone. Lite is the same phone without the browser engine, for a smaller download. They share a mod ID, so you can switch either way and keep your data.

How do I use proximity voice?

Hold Caps Lock and talk. Anyone with EnderPhone in range hears you, louder the closer they are. You can switch to open mic in Settings. If the server runs the addon, it may set its own range or require push-to-talk.

How do I turn the phone sideways?

Press the rotate button on the phone. It turns landscape and fills the window: the browser goes edge to edge and apps get bigger. Press it again to turn it back.

    What is EnderNet?

The shared service behind every phone. It carries your messages, calls, voice, photos and account. Because every player uses the same one, you can reach a friend no matter which server they're on.

    Is my location shared?

Only if you turn on nearby friends, or while you're in proximity voice, which needs to know who's close to whom. EnderNet keeps where you are right now and nothing older, so there's no history of where you've been.

Does it work with an offline-mode account?

Yes. Make an EnderPhone account with a password and a verified email, then message and call like anyone else. A few in-world extras, like cosmetics and your map marker, need a Minecraft account.

Does it work with Sodium, Iris and shaders?

Yes. EnderPhone runs alongside them rather than replacing them, and the face cam and camera work with a shaderpack on.

Will the addon force my players to install the mod?

No. The addon never sends anything to players without EnderPhone, and vanilla clients connect exactly as before.
